Arrancada — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 August 2026

Arrancada is an acceleration timer. This policy describes what the app does with your data. It is short because the app does very little.

The summary

Arrancada does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There is no server, no account, no analytics, and no advertising. The app has no networking code in it at all.

Location

Arrancada requests the precise location permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION).

Why. The app measures how long your vehicle takes to reach a target speed. It reads speed directly from your device's GNSS (GPS) receiver, because that is the only way to measure acceleration accurately. Without this permission the app can only run its built-in simulator.

How it is used. Location is read only while the app is open and on screen. Arrancada does not request background location access and cannot read your location when it is not in the foreground.

Where it goes. Nowhere. Location samples are processed on your device, in memory, to compute a time. Individual position or speed samples are never written to storage and never leave the device.

What is stored on your device

When a run completes, Arrancada saves its result on your device: the date and time, the target speed, the elapsed time, any split times, and the peak speed reached. This is at most the 50 most recent runs.

This is stored in the app's private storage, readable only by Arrancada. It contains no location coordinates — only durations and speeds. Deleting the app deletes it.

If you have Android's backup enabled, this run history may be included in your device backup so that it survives a reinstall or a move to a new phone. That backup is between you, your device, and your Google account; the developer of Arrancada has no access to it.

Data sharing

None. No data is sent to the developer or to any third party. Arrancada contains no third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting libraries.

Android Auto

When used with Android Auto, Arrancada displays the same timer on the car's screen. This does not change what is collected or stored. No data is sent to the vehicle beyond what is drawn on screen, and none is retained by the app beyond the run history described above.

Children

Arrancada is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone.

Your choices

Safety

Arrancada measures acceleration, which means driving hard. Use it only where it is legal and safe to do so — a closed course or a private road. Do not interact with your phone while driving.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top.
